In the summer of 2016, Corey had just moved back to Boulder after having spent the past two years in Brazil and then Chicago. We were eager to start making music together again and soon agreed to focus our efforts on creating an instrumental rock album. We combined a few riffs and concepts that we had been sitting on, and together we composed these 12 songs. We recorded the foundations of the tracks and Corey’s parts in the first half of 2017. That summer I moved to New England to start graduate school. Since then, this project has provided an outlet for me when I have needed an escape from my graduate studies and research. It has taken a few years longer to complete than initially planned (as we should have expected), but now, five years after embarking on this project, I am happy to say that production is finished. We now present “Beanbaggums” — the title is a thwazzification of the notion that these songs can be enjoyably consumed from the comfort of a beanbag chair. -E.W. 9/12/2021
